It is great to see continued investment in community safety initiatives, with the upgrade to the existing CCTV network underway in the Croydon Town Centre precinct. Council received more than $430,000 funding from the Australian Government to upgrade and extend the existing CCTV network, through the Safer Streets program.

As part of the project, hardware at Croydon Police Station has been updated, and 14 existing cameras have been upgraded as well as the associated Wi-Fi communication system. We are also installing an additional seven cameras in key areas including along the pedestrian route between Croydon Station to Main Street and into Croydon Park.

Council will continue to work with key stakeholders, including local police, traders and the community, to implement safety initiatives that make Croydon a vibrant and safe place to live, work and visit.
