As a Councillor one thing we talk to a lot of residents about is footpaths. Across Maroondah we have more than 690km of constructed footpaths, but we acknowledge that for historical reasons there are still areas that need to be constructed.

To address this need, over the past few years we have increased our Budget allocation for footpath construction. This year Council will spend $700,000 on new footpaths, focusing on our priority projects that connect with bus routes or other existing walking tracks.

A recent project in Mullum is the construction of 670m of footpath along Goldsmith Avenue and 75m along Dillon Grove. This means residents now have easier access to the bus stops, as well as into BJ Hubbard Reserve and the local Kindergarten.

The next major upgrade will start in early 2018 with one kilometre of footpath to be laid in Jeffery Drive, between Oban and Mullum roads.
