Latest news from Cr Steane

As Chair of the Maroondah Community Safety Committee (MCSC) I had the pleasure of attending the National Local Government Safe Cities Network Committee Communique last month.
Community safety is something that I’m passionate about in Maroondah, and the sessions provided a great opportunity to learn from other municipalities, local police and the National Drug Research Institute.
The line-up of presenters provided an insight into a range of community safety initiatives; research on anti-social behaviour and how to combat it; and an update on the latest surveillance technology, which is extremely timely given the upcoming installation of additional CCTV cameras in Croydon.
There was also a focus on event planning and how we can keep our communities safe when they are out enjoying the open spaces, events, and activities in our local community. I look forward to sharing this learning with the MCSC and local community.
