October is Community Safety Month, a great opportunity to work together as a community to make sure everyone can live safe and happy lives in Maroondah.

There’s so much each and every one of us can do to keep Maroondah safe – it could be keeping an eye on our elderly neighbours; supporting local food banks and homeless shelters; teaching our children to swim; or calling out bullies at school or sporting activities.

As Chair of the Maroondah Community Safety Committee, I work alongside other community partners including Victoria Police, service providers and public transport providers to develop a whole of community approach to community safety issues.

The Committee works together to identify key safety and crime prevention priorities, focussing on improving the perception of safety and reducing the incidence and effects of crime in the community.
