I have been really pleased to see work begin on the Heathmont Village shopping centre enhancement project. This significant project aims to improve traffic flow, car park access and overall safety in the area. Pedestrian-operated signals on Canterbury Road will be relocated, and new raised pavements installed, as a way of improving safety when accessing the shopping centre carpark. Twelve new car parks will also be added. Thanks to Michael Sukkar, Deakin MP, for his work to secure $1.2 million of Federal funding for this project.

Council has worked hard to ensure the village feel will be maintained, with new planter boxes being installed to separate the footpath and the parking bays.

Council is also undertaking the design of drainage and pedestrian improvement works for the western end of the carpark. These works will address important drainage issues and improve pedestrian connections. The works are planned for completion in mid 2018.
