With the Term 1 school holidays nearly upon us, bookings are open for Council’s April Vacation Care program, available for children in Prep to Year 6.

The program is offered at two locations, Belmont Park in Croydon South and Springfield Avenue, Croydon.

Maroondah Councillor Samantha Marks said bookings close on Tuesday 13 March, so parents are advised to get in quick to secure a place.

“Council’s Vacation Care program is a high-quality, flexible and child-focused program that can support parents who need to work during some or all of the school holidays,” says Cr Marks.

“Maroondah’s Vacation Care team prides itself on providing a program of recreational activities that is fun, interesting and stimulating. It means that children actually want to be there and parents feel reassured that their children are in a secure and stimulating environment,” says Cr Marks.

“In fact, the Vacation Care team at Maroondah exceeded national quality standards during their recent rating and assessment process, performing especially well in the areas of providing an engaging and stimulating learning environment for children and for engaging in responsive and caring interactions with the children in their care,” says Cr Marks.

Activities in the two-week April calendar include ‘themed’ days, engaging incursions and exciting excursions.

In-house days include World Party Day – complete with party games and prizes – and the opportunity to ‘walk on the wild side’ at a special dress-up day. There’s also a Karaoke Kids incursion and the chance to participate in our own Commonwealth Games, with the help of RDK Sports. Excursions include a visit to Archery Attack to learn some new skills, some water-play at Gumbuya World, a movie day, and a visit to Ceres Park for some hands-on fun at Merri Creek.

“Parents can book for one day or all nine days, which provides an important level of flexibility. Parents should note that the program is not running on Monday 2 April, due to the Easter Monday public holiday,” says Cr Marks.
