“Whether you’re looking to pursue a hobby or want to further your studies, community centres offer creative programs and classes that encourage artistic expression and personal and professional development – often for the fraction of the cost of alternatives, and sometimes free!”

“We are extremely fortunate here in Maroondah to have five community houses which offer affordable courses on topics such as computer training, writing, languages, arts and crafts, pottery, meditation, horticulture, exercise, and self-development,” Cr Lamont said.

“There are also nationally accredited vocational education and training (VET) courses designed to maximise your job prospects.”

“What’s more, community centres area a great way to connect with other community-based services, such as volunteering,” she said.
