Ever wondered what goes on backstage and once the TV cameras stop rolling? Well, you’re about to find out.

He is the outspoken judge on TV’s Dancing with the Stars, but the shoe will be on the other foot for Australia’s favourite song and dance man Todd McKenney in his entertaining and intimately revealing new show Bosom Buddies, on at Karralyka later this April.

Together with Australia’s leading lady of musical theatre Nancye Hayes, these two stars – and great pals – shine as they reflect on their stage careers, their 30-year friendship and their lives off stage and off camera.

They sing, they dance and they reminisce – about the highs and the lows. Hear as they share never-before-told backstage stories and reveal never-before-seen video footage.

There will also be funny anecdotes – “like the time Hayes walked into a cupboard rather than off stage”, reveals McKenney during a sneak-peek promotion of the show.

If there’s something you’ve wanted to know about McKenney or Hayes, here’s your chance. As part of each performance, the audience will be invited to ask the questions they’ve always wanted to ask. Answers guaranteed!

They first appeared on stage together in 1989 in 42nd Street and have also starred in the play Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks back in 2006, which McKenney describes as one of his favourite experiences with Hayes on stage.

For McKenney, coming back together is like “slipping into a pair of old slippers”.

The recipient of three Lifetime Achievement Awards and three Helpmann Awards, just to name a few, Hayes established her name playing the title role in Sweet Charity in 1967. Since then she has sung, danced and acted her way through a cavalcade of successes and into the heart of theatre-goers.

Best known as the controversial judge on TV’s Dancing with the Stars, as well as his towering performance as Peter Allen in the Australian production of The Boy from Oz with an incredible almost 1000 performances over two years, McKenney has been centre stage in Australia for more than 35 years.

Don’t miss your chance to catch these multi-award winners and true showbiz legends in Bosom Buddies, on at the Karralyka for three unforgettable shows.
