Want to keep the children active and entertained these July school holidays but stuck for ideas?

Maroondah City Council offers a fantastic school holiday program for children in Prep to grade 6.

The July Vacation Care Program runs from Monday 1 July to Friday 12 July 2019. So be quick as bookings close on Friday 14 June.

The program – located at Belmont Park in Croydon South and Springfield Pavilion in Croydon – offers a range of exciting excursions and centre-based activities, all supervised by Council’s qualified and experienced vacation care staff.

Council’s Vacation Care programs run between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday during school holidays (except for public holidays). The program also attracts Centrelink child care subsidies for eligible families.

Here are a sample of some of the day trip and activities we have planned in July:

  • GoClimb (Tuesday 2 July)
This day is all about challenges, adrenaline and fun! This exciting excursion to GoClimb in Coburg invites youngsters to explore the ClipNClimb arena and indoor playzone – which includes a Spider Tower, spiral slide and multi-level battle arena. Children over 130cm tall will also get to challenge themselves on the NinjaX course.
  • Archie Brothers (Thursday 4 July)
Roll up, roll up. Archie Brothers Cirque Electriq located at the Docklands will see youngsters drive bumper cars, play arcade games, enjoy their thrill-rider gaming experience, and explore a whole new world of fun with the virtual reality ride.
  • LEGO Masters (Friday 5 July)
Do you think you have what it takes to be a brick head? Children are invited to unleash their creativity, design and flair – who knows, you could be named the next LEGO Master!
  • Melbourne Museum (Friday 12 July)
Come along on an adventure to explore dinosaur skeletons and rooms full of animals, insects and other artefacts.

Maroondah Leisure also has a range of programs for primary school-aged children that will keep them active while teaching them new skills in a fun, supportive and social environment.

Free to Maroondah Leisure program members, the Holiday Intensive Swim Program offered at Aquanation and Aquahub is a five-day intensive swimming program that reinforces vital water safety skills.

If your child loves sport, The Rings and Maroondah Nets are hosting school holiday programs including all-weather basketball, netball, volleyball, soccer and multi-sports. To find out more visit the Maroondah Leisure website

Children aged 5 to 14 can explore their creative side at Wyreena Community Arts Centre, which offers a range of arts-based holiday program activities and classes such as pottery, painting and collage tailored to specific age groups.
