Reconciliation Action Plan

Maroondah City Council has committed to the development and implementation of a Reconciliation Action Plan. This Plan will reaffirm Council’s commitment to the important process of reconciliation and desire to build strong partnerships with the local Indigenous community.

Council’s Reconciliation Action Plan is currently under development, with endorsement to be sought from Reconciliation Australia. Councils’s Draft Reconciliation Action Plan 2018-2020 is  on public exhibition from Wednesday 23 January to Wednesday 20 February. Council’s current Reconciliation Policy Statement outlines four key areas of commitment and identifies strategies to assist in achieving our vision.

Providing a foundation for the development of a Reconciliation Policy Statement is Council’s commitment to the following principles:

  • Respect the contribution and importance of Indigenous history to the City of Maroondah
  • Be culturally sensitive and responsive to the needs and aspirations of Indigenous people
  • Be accountable, open and transparent to the community in decision making
  • Create and promote opportunities for the Indigenous community to be actively engaged and involved in consultation and planning processes.
