Australia Day Awards

Nominations are invited for the 2010 Maroondah Australia Day Awards.

Awards will be presented in three categories:

• Citizen of the Year
• Young Citizen of the Year
• Community Event of the Year

Nominations may be mailed to Public Affairs, Maroondah City Council, PO Box 156 Ringwood 3134 or delivered to one of Council's Service Centres.

Nomination forms can be obtained by printing off from the files below or by contacting Public Affairs on 9298 4390.

Nominations close at 5:00pm on Friday 20 November 2009.

Citizen & Young Citizen of the Year

The Awards for Citizen and Young Citizen of the Year recognise outstanding contributions to the Maroondah community by individuals.

The contribution could be in the areas of sport; hobbies; at school, college or university; in business or trade; to the environment; personal achievement or voluntary work.

The person does not need to be a resident of Maroondah, but in that case their contribution must be substantially to the community of Maroondah.

To be eligible for Young Citizen of the Year, the nominee must be over 16 years of age and under 26 years of age on 26 January, 2010.

Community Event of the Year

The Award for Community Event of the Year recognises an event which best reflects the importance of strong community values and ties.
The event must have taken place in Maroondah between 1 January 2009 and 31 December 2009.

Groups may nominate their own event.

Awards Ceremony - Australia Day 2010

All nominees, and the person who nominated them, will be invited via a letter in December 2009 to attend the Awards Ceremony to be held at the Karralyka Centre, Mines Road, Ringwood East on Australia Day, 26 January 2010.

At this Ceremony all nominees will be presented with a certificate by the Mayor and the Awards recipients will be announced.
