Bayswater North Community Renewal

Canterbury Gardens and Glen Park

The Bayswater North Community Renewal Project is about making it possible for:

  • You to influence change that will benefit your community
  • community members, governments, local services, businesses, non-government organisations and others to work together to respond to local issues.

Who can be involved?

The project is for all people who live, work or play in Canterbury Gardens Estate and around Glen Park Community Centre.  A Steering Group that is made up of 50% residents will manage the project.

The first step is to talk to you about what is good about living in the area and what things could be improved.  The task is then to bring you, your neighbours and the broader community (government, agencies and community groups) together to improve the issues that have been identified.

What will happen?

The Victorian Government has funded Maroondah City Council until June 2010 to provide opportunities for you to make choices about how best to achieve:

  • ongoing participation in decision-making
  • upgraded community facilities and open spaces
  • improved feelings of safety and wellbeing
  • increased opportunities for volunteers
  • greater participation in cultural, recreational and sporting activities
  • new job and learning opportunities.

Things that are learned from this project will inform how Maroondah City Council and State Government work with local communities in the future.

Project location

The project location is defined by Canterbury Road to the north, Colchester Road to the east, Dandenong Creek to the south and Tarralla Creek to the west.

The Project is a Victorian Government Community Renewal initiative made possible through the Community Support Fund.
