Bin skips

A permit is required if the bin skip is to be placed on Council land (ie. nature strip/road).

No permit is required if the bin skip is placed on private land.

An application for a permit must be made by the bin hire company who is providing the bin skip to the resident - most bin hire companies in the area are aware of this requirement. The permit is issued to the bin hire company.

If placed on Council land, the bin skip must be placed in a safe location, must not cause damage to Council property/infrastructure, and must comply with the VicRoads Code of Practice for the Placement of Waste Bins on Roadsides.

Property owners, builders and/or bin hire companies are responsible for the removal of any rubbish that is dumped around the bin skip.

Companies wishing to place a bin skip on Council land and have not done so previously should contact Council's Local Laws team on 1300 88 22 33 to arrange accreditation.

Note: Fines apply where no permit has been issued.
