Maroondah City Council provides more than 120 different services and facilities to the 105,000 members of our community.
The following is a snapshot of some of these services.
over 100 immunisation sessions per year delivering 7500 vaccinations to babies, children and adults
- activities for our young people aged 15 to 25 years with over 1,000 young people visiting EV’s each year and more than 4000 attending the 9 FReeZA gigs
- over 57,000 meals delivered each year to 1200 Meals on Wheels clients
- 7 Maternal and Child health centres and 18 caring nurses attend to 1,300 new babies per year and 18,500 maternal visits
- 77 school crossings are patrolled each school day, rain, hail or shine
- 88,700 hours Home & Community Care services each year
- social support and other activities for 140 older
residents and people with disabilities
- 9000 hours each year for Planned Activity Groups, including the invaluable men’s shed at Kerrabee
- residents can visit three conveniently located service centres and can call the central 1300 number which receives 98,000 calls each year
- over 750,000 trees, 433 parks, 42 bush reserves and 132 playgrounds covering 600 hectares of Council land with 33km of off road shared trails
- 475km of local roads and 600km of constructed footpaths are maintained throughout Maroondah
- support to five community centres at Central Ringwood, North Ringwood, Arrabri, Glen Park and Yarrunga, which offer a wide range of lifestyle, training and leisure courses
Maroondah residents recycle 12,887 tonnes of plastics, glass and paper and 11,586 tonnes of green organics, achieving the second highest recycling figures in the state
- events such as Maroondah Festival, Carols by Candlelight, Australia Day and Reconciliation Week, attracting participation from over 25,000 people each year
- 20 Morning Music shows attract 7500 patrons annually, 13 shows during the Professional Theatre Season attracts over 4000 patrons and 6 pantomines during school holidays attract 1800 patrons
- 12 exhibitions at Maroondah Federation Estate attract 26,000 visitors, and 10 exhibitions at Wyreena attract 20,000 visitors
- Council owns and maintains 21 kindergartens catering to 3 and 4 year old programs
