Busking & Leaflets

To busk on Council land, you need a permit from Maroondah City Council.

Council's approved busking sites are:

  • Main Street, Croydon
  • Heathmont shops
  • Railway Ave, Ringwood East
  • Exeter Rd/Maroondah Hwy, Croydon North
  • McAdam Square, Croydon North
  • Ringwood North shops.

To apply for a permit, write a letter detailing the type, location and duration of the busking, and send it to:

Busking on private land

If you wish to busk on privately owned land such as Eastland Shopping Centre, Ringwood Square or Arndale Shopping Centre, you should obtain permissionĀ from the shopping centre management.

Busking permit guidelines

A permit to busk is given on the following conditions:

  • No amplification device is to be used.
  • No litter is to be generated by the activity.
  • The busking is only permitted in one location for a maximum of one hour in any three hour period.
  • No inconvenience or obstruction is causedĀ to either pedestrians or vehicles.
  • No begging is permitted.

If Council receives complaints about the busking, the permit may be revoked.

Handing out pamphlets/samples or conducting surveys

You don't need a permit from Council if no selling is involved. If you wish to distribute leaflets on privately owned land, permission should be obtained from the shopping centre management.

Leaflets must not be posted on car windscreens, no matter where they are parked.
