Family day care

Family day care is a program operated by Maroondah City Council. It is a high-quality, professional, flexible and affordable home-based childcare service responsive to the needs of children and families in the Maroondah municipality.

It is aimed primarily at children from birth to 5 years but can also assist schoolchildren up to the age of 12 years (and beyond in special or emergency situations).

The emphasis in family day care is on security, warmth, learning and fun in a small group and family home environment.

Maroondah also has occasional day care services, and there are privately run and community managed long day care centres.

What is family day care?

Family day care is a Commonwealth Government-funded childcare program operated by Maroondah City Council. It is legislated under the Education and Care National Law and the Education and Care Services National Regulations 2011.

When is family day care available?

The family day care service operates 52 weeks of the year, 7 days a week, making it particularly suitable for parents who have unusual work hours or need extended hours of child care for their children.

We are dedicated to quality care

Maroondah Family Day Care carefully selects and screens educators and provides ongoing training and support. All educators have current approved first aid, anaphylaxis and asthma certificates. Educators must also hold a minimum qualification of Certificate 3 in Childcare.

Our experienced staff arrange placements to suit the needs of the family and educator and monitors the progress of children in care.

We also monitor children in care outside office hours and provide a 24-hour emergency on-call service to educators to ensure support in emergency situations and enhance continuity of service provision for parents.
