Free I.T. (Intergenerational Training) Clinic

Active-Healthy-Ageing-IT.jpg

The Active & Healthy Ageing Initiative in conjunction with Maroondah secondary colleges offers a free training opportunity for Maroondah’s ageing community to receive free I.T. assistance from year 9 students within an intergenerational setting.

The I.T. Clinic is not a training course but is driven by the specific needs and requirements of participants. The participant will direct their own learning and address items that are of interest to them in their day-to-day lives.

In 2016, Ringwood Secondary College was the first pilot school to trial this successful program. This program was in response to their Year 9 InterGreat program with their motto being ‘making a difference to the community’. As the pilot phase was so successful, the school decided to offer the program as a monthly free community event in 2016.

In 2017, the program was continued at Heathmont College as part of their Year 9 Life program.

In 2018, Ringwood Secondary College would like to extend their invitation once again to the community. It is proposed that there will be two morning sessions offered in June 2018

Topics have included:

  • how to use Word and Excel
  • searching the internet
  • how to use an iPhone/iPad/Android
  • how to take photos and store them
  • what is an app? And how do I download them?
  • how does Skype work?

To register your interest for 2018 at Ringwood Secondary College, please contact Council’s Active & Healthy Ageing Coordinator, Mary Katsikis, on 9294 5790.
