Pensioner Rate Assistance Scheme

If you hold a current concession card and live at the property shown on your notice, you may be eligible for a rebate on your rates.

Find information more information on eligibility and how to apply on the Pensioner Rate Assistance Scheme page

Penalty for late payments

Late payment of rates will incur interest charges that are fixed by the Victorian Government at 10 per cent. Interest will increase daily from the due date of each instalment.

Why is interest charged on late payments?

When rates payments are not received by the due date, Council’s planned income changes and projects must be financed from more expensive funding sources. We therefore charge interest on overdue rates to offset the additional costs of alternative sources of funding.

Financial hardship and payment arrangements

Council is aware of the financial difficulties many people may be facing. If there are any ratepayers who are having difficulty paying their rates, or other Council payments, they are encouraged to contact Council by phone on 1300 88 22 33 or email us to discuss arrangements based on individual circumstances.
