Maroondah Hwy & Mt Dandenong Ringwood VIC 3134

In progress
Ringwood Lake Park playspace will benefit from a million-dollar redevelopment this year.

The design will feature a network of play trails that'll weave through the existing trees, linking all areas of the playspace with active play opportunities, in the tree canopy, under the canopy trail, along the forest floor as well as a creek area for water and sand play.

The redevelopment works will include track glides, rope courses and balance platforms, as well as natural play elements such as sand and water areas, which allow creative play for all abilities, including cubbies and animal sculptures to fuel children’s imaginations. The BBQ and picnic areas will also be extended and more effectively integrated.

The playspace area will be increased to include the site of the old toilets, creating an area for multiple swings including the liberty swing. A carousel catering for wheelchairs will be a key feature, and all paths will be fully accessible linking to various play experiences including water play and access to the canopy trail.

The existing trees will be retained wherever possible and careful consideration has also been given to access points into the playspace to create natural barriers between the play area, the lake and the highway.

The playspace is being upgraded with $900,000 from Council’s capital works budget and $100,000 from the Victorian Government’s Community Sports Infrastructure Fund.

The playspace is currently closed as construction works have commenced and is anticipated to reopen in June 2018.
