Works on Wellington Park Drive included:

  • the construction of a pedestrian refuge and associated linemarking
  • the construction of two pram crossings and footpath connections
  • widening of vehicle crossings for 36 and 37A Wellington Park Drive
  • removal of rubber speed cushions
  • removal of one street tree outside 36 Wellington Park Drive to allow for footpath connection
  • alterations to parking restrictions.

The design addressed concerns raised by the community, which include the need for a safer crossing of Wellington Park Drive for pedestrians and vehicles driving along the centre of the road to avoid the speed cushions.

The pedestrian refuge will allow pedestrians to undertake a staged crossing of the road and has been located with consideration to the bus stop and access to the Melbourne Rudolf Steiner School.
