Background

Amendment C116 responds to the Maroondah Housing Strategy and it is an amendment to the Maroondah Planning Scheme relating to land in the Jubilee Park area.

The Amendment proposes to

  • apply a Heritage Overlay (HO) to properties
  • apply a Neighbourhood Character Overlay (NCO);
  • rezone land from General Residential Zone to Neighbourhood Residential Zone - Schedule 5 (NRZ5).

The Amendment is in response to the recommendations of the Jubilee Park Heritage and Neighbourhood Character Study Final Report, February 2018.

The Amendment was initially exhibited between 29 October 2018 and 13 December 2018. The public notification period was subsequently extended between 21 February 2019 to 20 March 2019.

A total of 71 submissions were received of which 3 were duplicate submissions, with 47 objecting to the Amendment and twenty 21 in support of the Amendment.

Following exhibition of the Amendment Council referred the submissions to an Independent Panel.

At the panel hearing submitters will have an opportunity to present their submissions.

The Planning Panel will report its findings to Council and can make recommendations to Council. Council will then consider the Panel Report and decide whether or not to adopt the amendment, with or without changes.

The Minister for Planning will be making the final decision regarding the approval of the Amendment.
