The Maroondah Disability Policy and Action Plan 2008-12 aims to facilitate the inclusion, empowerment and independence of people with disabilities in Maroondah.
Council recognises that disability planning is about more than just the service system. Holistic and effective planning is also about supporting positive social connections in the community and forging strong partnerships.
The Plan identifies eight Strategic Directions for priority action:
- Communication, information and advocacy
- Carers
- Participation and inclusion
- Physical and built environment
- Community attitudes and awareness
- Mental health
- Transport
- Support, resourcing and training.
