Council has worked closely with VicRoads to address traffic congestion at the intersection of Maroondah Highway and Dorset Road, Croydon.

To ensure funding for intersection improvement works, Council undertook preliminary design works and advocated with local Members of Parliament, resulting in a Federal commitment of $8 million

In May 2016, Council welcomed the Minister for Urban Infrastructure, the Hon Paul Fletcher to Maroondah where he announced the Federal Government would provide $8 million in funding for intersection improvements. Read the Minister's media release.

Preliminary design work, above, was undertaken by Council to address traffic flow at the intersection. VicRoads will manage the design and completion of the intersection works, including developing broader precinct plans.

The proposed works will reduce congestion and travel times through this busy intersection, which is noted as the second worst for evening peak travel times in Melbourne.

VicRoads will be managing the design, community engagement and completion of the intersection works.
