New Electoral Structure

Maroondah will have a new electoral structure incorporating an increased number of Councillors and extensively revised ward boundaries as from the Council November 2008 elections.

An Electoral Representation Review conducted by the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) concluded that the best structure for Maroondah was

  • Number of Councillors

    Nine

  • Ward Structure

Three multi Councillor wards with each ward represented by three Councillors

  • Ward Boundaries

Follow major roads and natural features as boundaries wherever possible;  and

  • Ward Names

Based upon geographic features or community facilities within each ward.

This electoral structure will be used for the Maroondah November 2008 elections and also for the election to be held in four years, in November 2012.
