Graduate Recruitment Program (GoGrad)

The GoGrad Graduate Recruitment Program aims to attract, develop and retain talented individuals who want to embark on a challenging career within the local government sector.

GoGrad is a two-year graduate program that recruits graduates for Victorian councils from a wide variety of disciplines and locations each year.

Graduates participate in an interactive Local Government induction day, other local government specific training sessions and a mentoring support program.

GoGrad values and encourages the development and strengthening of graduate networks; peer support; and ongoing learning for graduates.

GoGrad targets graduates who possess:

  • Strong leadership and passion for making a difference
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Enthusiasm, flexibility and drive to succeed
  • Keen interest in local government and community issues.

GoGrad is a program of the Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV), the peak body representing Victoria's 79 Councils. To find out more about the Graduate Program, visit the GoGrad website.

New Apprenticeships

'New Apprenticeships' is the umbrella name for the system of Apprenticeships and Traineeships now available.

Maroondah City Council supports New Apprenticeships and provides opportunities for individuals to develop practically based skills, whilst obtaining a nationally recognised certificate.

Work Experience & Work Placement Programs

Maroondah City Council offers work experience and work placement for students in a dynamic local government environment. Our program helps students meet their educational requirements, develop and enhance their skills and knowledge while being exposed to the 'real' world of work.

(NOTE: Placements for tertiary students will only be approved where it is a course requirement of the relevant tertiary institution.)
