Domestic Assistance

Council's Domestic Assistance Service provides assistance with housework to frail aged people, people with a disability and their carers.

The service is designed to assist individuals to be more independent at home and in the community and to assist carers in their caring role.

Within Maroondah, Calvary Silver Circle Home Support Services provides Domestic Assistance services on behalf of Council

What the service provides

The service provides trained staff who will assist with basic household chores including:

  • cleaning floors
  • vacuuming
  • cleaning toilet/bathroom
  • laundry

In special circumstances home care staff may also assist with:

  • shopping
  • bill payment

Eligibility

The service is aimed towards frail aged residents, people with a disability and their carers.
Limited short-term help may also be available to individuals who are terminally ill or suffering from acute illness.

Assessment

Assessment for Home and Community Care services is undertaken by trained staff who are sensitive and aware of the needs of the frail aged, people with a disability, and their carers. At all times the service user's right to privacy and confidentiality is maintained. All service users will receive a copy of their service plan.

Cost of the service

Council's fees for HACC services are based on the Victorian Government's Home & Community Care (HACC) Fees Policy (1998). HACC fees are variable depending on the income levels of service users.The cost of the service is discussed with the service user during the assessment interview.
