Maternal & Child Health

The Maroondah Maternal and Child Health Service is a free service offering families information, advice and personal support in caring for their children.

Health and developmental checks are provided for children up to 6 years of age at eight Maroondah Maternal & Child Health Centres throughout Maroondah.

Your nurse, in addition to having qualifications as a general nurse and midwife, has completed further studies in Maternal & Child Health. Her knowledge and skills are constantly updated. Your nurse is there to offer friendship and support. Centres are open weekdays.

How to make contact with the nurse

After the birth of your child and once you are home from hospital, a Maternal & Child Health Nurse will contact you by telephone to arrange a home visit. Visits to the centre are usually by appointment, which you can make by calling a central number, 9294 5777 between 9am and 12 noon.

You can also contact your nurse at your centre by telephone (telephone numbers are listed below). If the nurse is unavailable, you can leave a message on the answering machine and your call will be returned. If the matter is more urgent, you can contact a nurse at any of the other listed Maternal & Child Health Centres, or call the State Government 24 hour Maternal & Child HealthTelephone Service on 13 22 29.
