Property Maintenance

The Property Maintenance Service aims to maximise the physical independence of service users through ensuring their homes are safe and secure environments.

The service assists frail aged people, people with a disability and their carers to remain living in their homes by providing minor repairs and maintenance works that could usually be performed by a householder.

Within Maroondah, Calvary Silver Circle Home Support Services provides Property Maintenance services on behalf of Council.

The service will build and install independent living aids including ramps and rails following an Occupational Therapist assessment and referral. It also undertakes other minor household modifications and minor repairs and maintenance which are necessary for the safety, security and general upkeep of the service user's home. Some of the tasks undertaken include:

  • cleaning of guttering
  • replacement of light globes and fuses
  • minor plumbing maintenance to taps and sinks
  • replacement of smoke detector batteries
  • minor carpentry repairs.

Assessment

A telephone assessment is undertaken by trained staff for service users not already registered with Council's Home and Community Care program. Completion of an income statement will be required for fee assessment.

Cost of service

Council's fees for HACC services are based on the Victorian Government's Home & Community Care (HACC) Fees Policy (1998). HACC fees are variable depending on the income levels of service users. The cost of the service will be discussed at the time the request for service is made.
