Temporary Promotional Signs

How do I get a permit for a community event temporary promotional sign?

Using the application form, apply in writing to Local Laws showing details of:

  • Date the signs are needed
  • Requested location from the permitted list of sites
  • Other details listed on the form
Note:
  • Sponsors' advertising on boards must not exceed 10% of the total sign area
  • No overhead banners permitted and all signs are limited to a maximum size of 2.4 m x 1.8 m

Permit Issue Guidelines

  • Signs may only be placed be placed on the designated sites on Council land
  • Applications must be in writing and the organisation applying is a Maroondah based non for profit, promoting a community organisation, or charity one off function.
  • Space will be allocated subject to availability based on a first in first served basis.
  • Signs are to be displayed for no more than three weeks and removed with 2 days of the event occurring
  • No more than two signs per organisation or event are permitted at one time
  • Maximum permitted size of sign is 2.4 metres by 1.8 metres
  • Overhead banners, animated, illuminated or flashing signs are not permitted
  • Sponsors' advertising on boards must not exceed 10% of the total sign area
  • The sign must not distract or obstruct a drivers' view of the traffic signals or road signs
  • The sign must not cause any hazard or impediment to pedestrians
  • The sign must be securely anchored, and the applicant must reinstate the area after the sign is removed
  • The erection of the sign complies with Council policy
