This guide provides a list of agencies and recycling centres to help with safe disposal of waste items and correct recycling procedures.
Charges may apply for some items; we recommend you contact the facility to confirm any costs before taking your items.

Shredded paper is great for worm farms or compost systems.
Council fortnightly recycling service
Place in a box or paper bag and then place in to recycle bin. Please don’t put in loosely as it can get wrapped around machinery at the material recovery facility.

REDcycle soft plastic recycling program

You can take your plastic shopping bags, as well as other soft plastic packaging, back to your local supermarket to be recycled as part of the REDcycle program.
Visit the REDcycle website to see what plastic packaging is accepted, and use their locator to find your nearest participating supermarket.

Detox Your Home Chemical Collection
There are 31 Detox your Home mobile collections held across Victoria each year. The program is administered by Sustainability Victoria in partnership with local councils and is funded by the Victorian landfill levy.
A full list of upcoming Detox Your Home collections is available on the Detox your Home website.
There are three nearby mobile chemical collection events which will be held every year at the following Detox your Home mobile locations:
- Doncaster East in March
- Wantirna South in May
- Lilydale in August

- Eligible residential households are entitled to a maximum of two collections per financial year. Maximum of 2m3of acceptableitems taken per booking.
- Book first before putting items onto the nature strip by contacting council on 1300 88 22 33 or visiting one of Council’s Customer Service Centres.

Council drop off
- Council offers local residents a free disposal service for used hypodermic needles and syringes. These items are designated as biologically hazardous and require safe disposal.
- To use this service, call 1300 88 22 33 and ask for a Sharps container. When the container has been filled with used syringes and needles, bring it back for replacement.
