Respite Care
Council's Respite Care Service provides carers of frail older people and people with a disability with a short break from their caring role.
The service aims to:
- provide meaningful respite for the service users and their carers.
- assist carers in their caring role.
- strengthen the ability of families caring for a child (under 18) with a disability.Within Maroondah, Calvary Silver Circle Home Support Services provides Respite Care services on behalf of Council.
Service Tasks
The service provides trained staff to care for frail older residents or people with a disability in their own home or in the community, during the day, evening or for longer periods as required, including overnight respite. Staff can assist with a range of personal care tasks and support.
Eligibility
The service is aimed towards the carers of frail older residents and persons with a disability.
Assessment
Assessment for Home and Community Care services is undertaken by trained staff who are sensitive and aware of the needs of the frail aged, those with a disability, and their carers. At all times the servive user's right to privacy and confidentiality is maintained. All service users will receive a copy of their service plan.
Cost of the service
Council's fees for HACC services are based on the Victorian Government's Home & Community Care (HACC) Fees Policy (1998). HACC fees are variable depending on the income levels of service users.The cost of the service is discussed with the service user during the assessment interview.
