Ringwood Lake Park playspace redesign

decorative imageFollowing two consultation sessions in November 2016, Council has designed to design a proposed network of play trails that weave through the existing trees of Ringwood Lake Park.

The design concept aims to link all areas of the playspace with active play opportunities, in the tree canopy, under the canopy trail, along the forest floor as well as a creek area for water and sand play.

The playspace area will be increased to include the site of the old toilets, creating a quieter space with cubbies and junior play opportunities. New inclusive accessible play equipment is also proposed, including a carousel that caters for wheelchairs, as well as fully accessible paths and play experiences along the creek and under the canopy trail.

The existing trees will be retained wherever possible along with the shelters and BBQs.

Careful consideration has also been given to access points into the playspace to create natural barriers between the play area, the lake and the highway.

The playspace is being upgraded with $500,000 from Council’s capital works budget and $100,000 from the Victorian Government’s Community Sports Infrastructure Fund.

Construction of the $600,000 project will commence in late 2017 with completion anticipated in March 2018.
