Roadside Fundraising
An organisation must apply for a permit if they wish to perform the following fundraising activities:
- temporary roadside fundraising - selling items such as Christmas trees or flowers
- highway charity collections - collecting at road intersections controlled by traffic signals
- doorknock charity collections - doorknocking from house to house
The permit is free, but can only be issued to not-for-profit community organisations.
How to apply for a permit
All requests to carry out roadside fundraising must be be in writing, and include details of:
- the name of the organisation
- the date and time of the collection
- where the collection will take place.

Permit conditions
- Permits are only issued to not-for-profit community organisations.
- You must provide a Certificate of Currency of $10million public liability, and Maroondah City Council must be listed as an interested party.
Doorknocking
- All collectors must wear identification showing the name of the organisation and the collector's name.
Intersection collecting
- The permit is issued subject to you then seeking approval from Victoria Police.
- Collections may only take place at the intersections nominated in the permit
- All collectors must wear highly visible clothing
- Collections can only take place between sunrise and sunset.
