Introducing Solar Savers

solar panels

Maroondah City Council has launched a new program to support local pensioners to install solar with no upfront costs. Solar Savers will grow renewable energy in Maroondah while helping pensioners to save on power bills and stay comfortable in their homes.

Local Government has been at the forefront of local action to tackle climate change, and Solar Savers is no exception. Council is proud to be participating in this pioneering program, which is paving the way for a future initiative that can be rolled out across the state.

How does it work?

Participating households receive a new solar system, which they gradually pay for through their rates payments. Power bill savings from the panels cover the cost of these repayments. Careful modelling has been done to make sure every household is at least $100 in front at the end of each year.

Who is eligible for the program?

Solar Savers is open to pensioners in Maroondah, who own their own homes, and use most of their power during the day. Our research has shown that this group has the most to gain from installing solar.

There are a limited number of places available in Maroondah’s Solar Savers program. Registrations close Monday 31 July.
