Council employees celebrate 450 years of service
A combined 450 years of service was celebrated by long-serving members of Maroondah City Council employees at a special reception at the Karralyka Centre on Wednesday 25 June.
Mayor of Maroondah Councillor Tony Dib said the Staff Milestones evening celebrated the dedicated service of twenty-seven Council employees over 10, 20 and 30 years.
“This year we had four employees celebrating 30 years of continuous service with Council, with ten members achieving 20 years of service and a further 13 employees reaching 10 years. A total of 450 years of knowledge and experience,” said Cr Dib.
“Service milestones are something that Council strongly believes should be recognised and celebrated and we are very proud to have staff who have served their community over such an extensive period of time,” said Cr Dib.
“One of the major strengths of any organisation is the continuity of their employees – having people who ‘know the ropes’ and can provide a sense of history and an overview to draw on,” said Cr Dib.
The broad range of service areas represented in the Service Milestones included Customer Service, School Crossing Supervisors, Local Laws, Parks and Works, Infrastructure Maintenance, Building Services, Information Technology, Public Health, Ringwood Aquatic Centre, Croydon Leisure Centre and Family Day Care providers .
Employees were congratulated by Maroondah’s CEO, Michael Marasco and Mayor of Maroondah, Councillor Tony Dib who presented each staff member with a Letter Under Seal from Council.
