Supported Residential Services Project

The Supported Residential Services Project is a long-term program that provides support to residents living in Supported Residential Services (or SRSs) in the City of Maroondah.

About the SRS Project

The SRS Project primarily focuses on SRS facilities that provide concessional-level accommodation and services. In Maroondah, there are three facilities that fall into this category:

  • Bellden Lodge, Croydon
  • Dunelm, Croydon
  • L'Abri, Ringwood.

A full list of the registered SRS facilities in Maroondah is provided on this page.

The Community Development Officer (SRS) has a number of roles which include:

  • Engaging SRS residents and assisting them to access programs, facilities and services in the community
  • Supporting the development of the skills and abilities of SRS residents (for example, confidence with using public transport)
  • Working with SRS proprietors and staff, Council departments, the Victorian Department of Human Services, service providers and community groups to ensure that SRS residents are included in all parts of community life
  • Providing relevant resources, information and supports to SRS residents, carers and families, SRS proprietors, service providers and community groups
  • Facilitating and supporting programs
  • Providing information and advice to the community about SRS facilities in the City of Maroondah.

For more information about the Supported Residential Services Project, please telephone 1300 88 22 33 or email Council's Community Development Officer (SRS).

Please note that the State Government has regulatory responsibilities for the SRS sector and monitors these facilities to ensure they provide certain standards of care and accommodation. To contact an Authorised Officer regarding SRS compliance with the relevant Act and regulations, please call the Department of Human Services (Eastern Metropolitan Region) on 9843 6000.

Aquasize is a water aerobics class for adults with a mental health disability. The classes are held in small groups with understanding staff. Participants can experience fun and fitness in an environment that encourages social interaction. After each session, participants can enjoy a chat with others over a cup of tea/coffee and biscuits.

Bookings are essential. For session times, costs and bookings, contact Maria on 9298 4524.email Council's Community Development Officer (SRS) or phone 1300 882 233.

Volunteers Needed

Council is urgently seeking volunteers for the Maroondah SRS program. Volunteers are needed to drive SRS residents to appointments and activities as difficulties with transport is one of the major restrictions. Volunteers are also needed to spend time with SRS residents in friendship connections.
