Ringwood Central Activities District

In the Melbourne @ 5 million policy document released in December 2008, Ringwood was announced as one of six Central Activities Districts (CADs).

About the Ringwood Transit City Project

With initial funding from the State Government's Department of Sustainability and Environment, planning is underway for a vibrant town centre. Following community consultation, the Ringwood Transit City Urban Design Masterplan was developed to provide a broad conceptual framework as envisioned in the State Government's Melbourne 2030 - Planning for Sustainable Growth.

Steps along the way

Consultation is key to the development of our transit city. Opportunities for consultation will be advertised regularly. Focus groups, interviews, forums, meetings and surveys are all part of a consultation process that is integral to the whole journey - not just the beginning.

The consultation process has included a Traders Workshop, project forums, Listening Posts held at Ringwood Lake, Ringwood Library, Eastland Shopping Centre, Ringwood Station, Bond Street, Ringwood Square and Maroondah Federation Estate and the establishment of the Ringwood Transit City Community Reference Group.

The feedback to date has been very positive. People have been talking about what they value and like about Ringwood and how they want to be a part of discussing how the Ringwood Transit City will fit into Ringwood and how they can take part.
