Ringwood Transit City Advisory Committee
The Ringwood Transit City Advisory Committee was formed in 2004 to oversee implementation of the Transit City Project in Ringwood.
The Advisory Committee reports to the Minister for Planning after meetings which are held on a quarterly basis. The Advisory Committee has identified further planning and studies to be undertaken and other infrastrucutre, business and commmunity opportunities to be investigated as part of a successful Ringwood Transit City implementation.
Growing confidence in Ringwood is expected to generate over $1 billion of developer investment over the next 10 years for Ringwood. Ongoing funding is key to the transformation of Ringwood into a major urban destination based on a shared vision of a premier activity centre, which will distinguish itself from other outer suburban activity centres.
The Ministerial Advisory Committee has several functions, which are listed below:
- To facilitate the further development of Ringwood as a key centre for employment and community services in outer-eastern Melbourne
- To encourage activities which contribute to the role of Ringwood as a key centre for social and cultural well-being in outer-eastern Melbourne
- To recommend to the Minister capital works considered necessary to facilitate development of land and economic and social activity within Ringwood
- To encourage the development of housing diversity within Ringwood, including affordable housing and
- To promote the sustainable development and economic growth of Ringwood.
Maroondah City Council's Chief Executive Officer chairs the committee, which has representatives from the Department of Planning & Community Development, Department of Infrastructure, Maroondah City Council, and Queensland Investment Corporation. Reporting to the Advisory Committee is the Community Reference Group. This Group comprises twelve members representing a broad cross section of the community.
The Advisory Committee held its inaugural meeting in August 2004 and meets on a quarterly basis.
