The Ringwood Transit City Project
Ringwood has been designated a Transit City under the State Government metropolitan strategy, Melbourne 2030 - Planning for Sustainable Growth which sets a strategic framework for the future development of Melbourne. This is underpinned by forecast population growth of over 1,000,000 additional people in Melbourne by 2030, who are expected to generate demand for approximately 620,000 new homes.
Ringwood is one of nine metropolitan centres in the Transit Cities Program as well as Frankston, Dandenong, Box Hill, Epping, Sydenham, Footscray, Werribee and Broadmeadows. There are also four regional centres including Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo and LaTrobe. The Transit Cities Program helps implement Melbourne 2030.
