Maroondah Urban Design Framework

The Maroondah Urban Design Framework establishes a clear and concise vision for the future of Maroondah and was developed through community consultation, physical analysis and a review of statewide policy issues.

It offers an easily read set of recommendations, guidelines and strategies that will ensure all development embraces and maintains the desired character of the municipality and is in line with Maroondah's Council Plan. The Framework was adopted by Council on 13 November 2006.

The Maroondah Urban Design Framework identifies seven key themes in Maroondah and a range of actions to improve the urban design and built form of Maroondah. The Framework also recommends a number of changes to the Maroondah Planning Scheme to incorporate its aims.

The seven key themes identified for Maroondah are:

  • Retail and commercial
  • Industrial areas
  • Residential areas
  • Major transport corridors
  • Signage
  • Gateways
  • Natural environment

The Maroondah Urban Design Framework is available in the following ways:

  • for viewing at Council Service Centres
  • CD-ROM - free
  • printed copies: $40 for Volume 1 and $20 for Volume 2 (Appendix)
