Enjoy an unforgettable evening as Enlighten by Born in a Taxi comes to Ringwood Town Square this week.

Integrating dance, comedy and participatory theatre, Enlighten invites audiences of all ages to journey into the celestial heavens and reflect on how we connect, what’s important to us and our search for the sacred within us all. It is set in a unique, transparent box, THE CUBE, which combines indoor and outdoor stages and dazzles audiences with its interactive lights and image projections.

A free performance of Enlighten will start at 6.30pm each night from Friday 2 to Sunday 4 September. Each performance will run for approximately an hour and 15 minutes, providing the perfect opportunity to enjoy dinner pre or post-performance at one of the fantastic restaurants in Ringwood Town Square. No bookings or tickets are required.

Co-Artistic Directors Carolyn Hanna and Penny Baron are excited to bring Enlighten to Ringwood. They hope audiences take up the chance to reconnect and enjoy live performances again following the COVID-19 pandemic.

The show was inspired by “a grand desire to connect an audience of strangers in the spirit of play and reflection”, so Carolyn and Penny said audiences can expect opportunities to get involved.

Enlighten is an outdoor interactive spectacle that brings a sense of joy, wonder and reconnection to public space and local communities. It reminds us of our similarities, not our differences, and holds people in a gentle, playful embrace.

“What makes this work so special is the feeling of safety, lightness and play it brings to audiences. We are constantly amazed by the response from the public and how quickly and deeply they get involved.

“Audiences can expect to be elevated, to see something they have never seen before and to be drawn into the compelling world of Enlighten. It looks glorious, sounds incredible and leaves you feeling connected to humanity and the divine within us all.”

Enlighten is presented by Maroondah City Council and award-winning physical theatre company Born in a Taxi, as part of the outdoor activation program funded by the Victorian State Government with support from Eastland.
