Maroondah’s Sustainability Strategy 2022-2031 was formally adopted by Council on Monday 29 August 2022.
The strategy presents a vision to support environmental, social and economic sustainability across both Council and the Maroondah community over the next 10 years.
The strategy was developed following extensive background research, community consultation and a thorough review of the Sustainability Strategy 2016-2020, acknowledging and building upon the previous strategy’s achievements and outcomes.
Mayor of Maroondah, Councillor Mike Symon, said the new strategy will work towards Council’s clean green and sustainable vision and recognises the role of environmental sustainability in ensuring social and economic resilience across our community.
“Council is delighted to formally adopt the Sustainability Strategy 2022-2031. This strategy will help ensure that we are well-placed as a Council to manage any future environmental and economic challenges while supporting the transition to a green economy, building social connections and recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The strategy will also help shape how Council and residents can make a difference over the next ten years to ensure that future generations have access to the same opportunities we enjoy today,” Cr Symon said.
“Thank you to our Maroondah Environment Advisory Committee and the many community members who contributed to the strategy during the consultation process. Your feedback has been invaluable.”
