Maroondah City Council is calling for nominations from community representatives to serve on the Maroondah Disability Advisory Committee from September 2022 until October 2024.
You are eligible to be a community representative of the Maroondah Disability Advisory Committee if you:
- are a person with a disability
- live or study in Maroondah
- are over 18 yrs of age.
Purpose of the Committee
The Maroondah Disability Advisory Committee provides a strong link between Council and people with a disability, their carers and local service providers.
The committee provides advice to Council and informs activities relating to people with a disability, their carers and families. Areas of focus may include: disability policy, accessible and inclusive programs and services, community access and inclusion needs relating to the built environment and strategies for effective Council engagement with people with a disability, their carers and families.
Role of the Committee
- Advance the social policy and community wellbeing related “Key Directions” within Maroondah 2040: Our Future Together
- Advise Council on the development, implementation and review of the Maroondah Liveability and Wellbeing Strategy, Maroondah Disability Policy and Action Plan, and other relevant embedded action plans, social policies and Council strategic documents.
- Provide advice to Council on policy, plans, programs, service development and planning issues in relation to people with disabilities at a strategic and operational level.
- Promote community participation and engagement involving people with a disability, their carers and families within the Maroondah municipality
- Establish a collaborative partnership between Council and key community stakeholders.
- Provide input into the development of strategy, policy, partnership activities and advocacy efforts in relation to disability related issues and opportunities in Maroondah.
- Inform and advise Council on key disability related policy issues and act as the peak Council advisory governance body on disability matters.
