COVID update

The Victorian Government has introduced COVID-19 restrictions, which are currently in place. These restrictions may impact some of Council’s services and facilities.


If you're stuck at home and would like to talk to someone, identify local assistance or connect to your local Community House, you can call the Outer East Chatline on 1800 984 825.

About 

Local community centres provide a focal point for community involvement. They offer opportunities to learn, share, grow, meet others and have fun.

There's a broad range of programs, courses and activities available at these centres. They are generally designed to be affordable, and to bring people together in a friendly, supportive environment.  

Course subjects

Some of the courses and services offered at our community houses include:

  • childcare
  • accredited training, adult education classes and life-long learning
  • emergency relief.

Health and wellbeing courses:

  • arts classes
  • craft such as pottery and sewing
  • fitness such as meditation, yoga, tai chi and walking groups
  • healthy aging activities
  • social groups .

Learning local in Maroondah

Five Maroondah community houses have collaborated on a simple, locally-driven website that promotes a variety of activities at minimal cost to the community.   The website is a one stop shop for adult learning, skills to employment development and social connection opportunities in Maroondah.

Learn Locals are a part of a network of over 250 not-for-profit organisations across Victoria offering adult community education and training to people from all walks of life. Learn Locals draw upon the skills and knowledge of local trainers with industry experience who are committed to helping learners build new, real-world skills and improve their lives.
