Family day care is a Commonwealth Government-funded childcare program operated by Maroondah City Council. It is legislated under the Education and Care National Law and the Education and Care Services National Regulations 2011.
When is it available?
The family day care service operates 52 weeks of the year, 7 days a week.
Who can use it?
Maroondah Family Day Care provides affordable childcare for families who live, work or study in the Maroondah municipality.
Cost
The cost is $11.40 per hour and may be reduced if eligible for the Child Care Subsidy.
What does it provide?
Maroondah Family Day Care provides:
- small family groups

- carefully selected and trained educators
- developmentally appropriate and individually planned daily experiences for children in care
- out of hours support to educators
- monitoring of all children in care
- strict safety guidelines in educators' homes
- care for school-age children during school holidays
- care for children with special needs or a disability
- limited pre-school and school drop-off and pick-up for children in care
- nappies, formula/milk and special dietary requirements for babies are the responsibility of parents.
What will my child be doing?
Educators provide experiences and activities for children that:
- are developmentally appropriate
- are relevant to children's interests and skills
- cater for diverse cultural backgrounds and special needs.
Children are also included in normal daily household routines such as cooking, shopping and visiting friends, relatives or other places.
Number of children
Each educator may educate and care for up to 4 preschool children at any one time.
We are dedicated to quality care
Maroondah Family Day Care carefully selects and screens educators and provides ongoing training and support. All educators have current approved first aid, anaphylaxis and asthma certificates. Educators must also hold a minimum qualification of Certificate 3 in Childcare.
Our experienced staff arrange placements to suit the needs of the family and educator and monitors the progress of children in care.
Our service has received an exceeding rating by the Department of Education and Training.
