COVID-19 Update
We are closely monitoring the progress of COVID-19 and are receiving regular update from the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). DHHS is strongly recommending the uptake of the flu vaccine to ensure the community is protected during the flu season. The Prime Minister has also announced restrictions on entry into aged care facilities to visitors, staff and visiting workers who have not been vaccinated against influenza after 1 May.
Council will continue to run the Workplace Flu Program to ensure our community is protected from the flu this season. The flu vaccination only provides coverage for the flu virus, it does not provide any coverage for the coronavirus. Further information on how the program will be run on the day will be provided at the time of booking. Please continue to check our website for updates as the situation may change.
About the Program
Council's Immunisation Service offers influenza vaccinations to eligible Maroondah businesses.
What is influenza?
Influenza, also known as the flu, is a highly contagious viral infection that can cause severe illness and life-threatening complications, including pneumonia.
The flu spreads from person to person via saliva, sneezing, coughing and runny noses. People are usually contagious before their symptoms begin and for up to one week after symptoms start.
The influenza vaccine is currently the most effective measure available to prevent catching the flu.
