L2P learner driver mentor program

Council offers the VicRoads L2P learner driver mentor program to young people aged 16 to 20 living in Maroondah, who experience significant barriers in learning to drive.

About the L2P learner driver mentor program

The L2P program provides an opportunity for young people (aged 16 to 20) who experience significant barriers in learning to drive. We match participants with a fully licensed mentor to complete their 120 hours driving experience.

This 120 hours of experience is required to obtain their probationary license.

Giving young people the chance to learn how to drive provides a platform for gaining independence as well as supporting growth in education and employment.

This program is run with support from the Rotary Club of Ringwood and the State Government of Victoria.

If you are a young person eligible for the L2P program, you can apply online below:

Become a volunteer mentor driver

Our young people can’t achieve this significant milestone without the help from adult volunteers.

The program is fully supported by Maroondah City Council's Youth Services team and our volunteer mentor drivers are given comprehensive training and support throughout the program.

To register your interest in becoming a volunteer mentor driver for the L2P program, see Careers@Maroondah

EV’s Hangout

EV’s Hangout is just that, a hangout. A safe place where young people (12-25) can:

  • access laptops and Wi-Fi
  • play games
  • socialise
  • get free snacks
  • speak to a Youth Worker to get support.

EV's Hangout runs out of EV's Youth Centre at 212 Mt Dandenong Rd, Croydon.

Come check it out every Thursday during school terms from 3-6pm.
