Council will be undertaking playground and carpark improvement works at McAlpin Reserve.
The improvement works will include the renewal and upgrade of the existing playspace to include:
- all-inclusive equipment to benefit all ages and abilities
- the creation of a new play area closer to the amenities
- upgrading the park furniture, shelters and pathways
- landscaping works.
Modifications will also be carried out to the carpark to improve the functionality, provide further accessible carparking and create a new sealed pathway from Wonga Road to the reserve’s internal pathways.
The works will be carried out in stages. The first stage of upgrade of the carpark and connecting pathway has been commenced, the renewal of the playspace will commence in coming months.
During the works the playground will be closed to the public and construction fencing will be installed.
There are a number of other local parks and reserves that you can visit during these works, including:
- Mahon Reserve Playspace (off Jull Parade)
- Towerhill Reserve Playspace
- Mundara (Cobain) Reserve Playground
Footbridge renewal
Council will be undertaking replacement of the footbridge at McAlpin Reserve. Works will commence Monday 20 September.
During construction pedestrians will need to seek alternative routes.
