Council is looking at installing traffic signals at the Wonga Road and Tortice Drive intersection to improve safety and access.

In early 2019 the Member for Deakin, Michael Sukkar, MP announced a federal funding grant towards the installation of traffic signals at the Tortice Drive and Wonga Road intersection in Ringwood North.

Wonga Road, between Warrandyte Road and Warranwood Road, is a major collector road under the care and management of Council and experiences high traffic volumes as it provides a north/south connection between Ringwood and Ringwood North, including access to several schools, sporting reserves and community facilities.  Tortice Drive is a main feeder to Wonga Road providing an east/west connection for a large catchment of residential properties and the Parkwood Community Facility.

Traffic signals will improve intersection operation and safety by providing controlled movements through the intersection, particularly the right turns into and out of Tortice Drive. They will also assist bus movements through the intersection.

Subject to the outcome of a consultation period that ended on 9 November 2019, it is anticipated that the works would occur early in the 2020 calendar year.
