Council has a number of major initiatives planned for Croydon as identified in the Council Plan 2017-2021 and Maroondah 2040 – Our future together.
Croydon Town Square
Council is constructing a new Croydon Town Square, creating a new vibrant open space in the heart of Croydon.
Once completed, the project will provide great benefits to the area and will better connect Main Street to Croydon Station and Bus Interchange – building on the work of the recent Croydon Connects Project.

Level crossing removal at Coolstore Road and Croydon Station upgrade

Council has allocated $40,000 to undertake preliminary investigations into grade separation of the rail line at Coolstore Road, Croydon, in order to create a more accessible and connected Croydon Town Centre.
Council will advocate to the Victorian Government for the removal of this level crossing.
The grade separation will improve the safety of all commuters, enhancing pedestrian and vehicle connections in the area and possibly even creating more space for car parking. It will also allow for development of the station itself.

Croydon Civic Masterplan
Council is developing a new Croydon Civic Masterplan to identify and guide the future redevelopment of the precinct area, with a specific focus on the facilities, open space, transportation infrastructure and the various associated services.
The Croydon Civic precinct includes Council’s Aquahub, Maternal & Child Health Centre, EV’s Youth Centre, Maroondah Occasional Care Centre and Keystone Hall; along with other community facilities such as Croydon RSL, Croydon Library, Croydon Scout Hall, Croydon Central Kindergarten and Croydon Senior Citizens Centre. This is set in a large open space area that includes wetlands, parkland, athletics track and sporting ovals.
