Cultural Facilities Hire Subsidy Program

Opportunities to create and participate in the arts, music and other cultural activities have been significantly impacted by the covid-19 pandemic.

Council is making it easier for groups and creative practitioners to return to their activities through the Cultural Facilities Hire Subsidy Program. The Program will subsidise the use of Maroondah Federation Estate, E.V’s Youth Centre, Wyreena Community Arts Centre, Maroondah Federation Estate Gallery and various halls will be available to eligible applicants between February 2021 and June 2021, and Karralyka Theatre from March 2021 to June 2021.

This subsidy program is part of Maroondah City Council’s COVID Recovery Plan and recognises that participation in arts and cultural activity is vital to a connected and culturally vibrant community.  

Registrations close 5pm, Monday  15 February.  

Hire facilities

Karralyka

The Karralyka theatre and large function rooms can be used for rehearsal, workshops, performances and other arts and culture activities and presentations.

Maroondah Federation Estate

 Medium and small sized function and meeting rooms and outdoor spaces at Maroondah Federation Estate can be used for rehearsal, performances, workshops or other suitable arts and cultural activities. The subsidy available is up to 75% of room hire cost.

Wyreena Community Arts Centre  - Silver Birches

Silver Birches is a charming facility with domestic size rooms. We invite proposals from individual artists and creative practitioners, or from small groups for short term residencies of up to 3 months. Silver Birches may also be suitable for small arts and cultural events and workshops. The subsidy available is up to 75% of room hire cost.

Wyreena Community Arts Centre –  Catamore Hall

Catamore Hall can be used for rehearsals, events and other arts activities. The subsidy available is up to 75% of hall hire cost.

Community Halls

Community Halls including Belmont Community Hall, East Ringwood Community Hall, Keystone Park Hall, Brushy Creek Hall, and Croydon Swimming Club rooms can be used for rehearsal, performances and workshops. The subsidy available is up to 75% of hall hire cost.

EV’s Youth Centre

EV’s Youth Centre has a large open hall space with hard floors and a high ceiling. Within this hall is a raised carpeted stage set up for performance (typically music performance). This space can be used for rehearsal or performance however there is no raised seating. The space is currently being used as a rehearsal space and event space for live music events. The subsidy available is up to 75% of hall hire cost.
